In order to promote the healthy development of the industry, the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently held a symposium in Beijing on promoting the development of refractory raw materials such as refractory clay and magnesia. According to the news from the meeting, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will formulate the Industry Access Conditions for Magnesia and Magnesia Refractory Raw Materials.

Magnesite refractory is an important basic material and supporting material for high-temperature industry, which is widely used in high-temperature industries such as steel, non-ferrous metals, building materials, petroleum, chemical industry, environmental protection, etc. Among them, the steel industry is its largest downstream market, accounting for more than 60% of the total demand.

In recent years, the refractory raw material industry has made great progress. China has become the largest producer, consumer and trading country of refractory raw materials. However, with the rapid development of the industry, the problems of disordered mining, overcapacity, low industrial concentration and irrational structure are also increasingly prominent.

Take Liaoning, a major province of magnesite refractory industry, as an example. There are nearly 100 magnesite mining enterprises, most of which are small mining enterprises.

Industry insiders said that the unreasonable mining of small mining enterprises caused damage to the ecological environment and caused serious dust pollution. At the same time, mineral powder is piled up like a mountain, forming an ecological hazard. With the mining of high-grade magnesite, the low-grade ore and the generated ore powder are not reasonably utilized, resulting in waste of resources. The mining in the tunnel of the mine is prone to safety accidents, and a large amount of dust also threatens the physical and mental health of miners.

The meeting proposed to strengthen the management of mandatory plans for refractory clay production in the future, establish a management system covering the whole process of plan preparation, issuance, supervision and inspection, and strengthen the coordination of mandatory planned production with upstream mining, downstream processing and trade links.

At the same time, the competent department will also strictly implement the access management, timely publish the list of manufacturers that meet the access standards for refractory clay, and accelerate the formulation of the "Access Conditions for Magnesia and Magnesia Refractory Raw Materials Industry".

The meeting encouraged backbone enterprises to strengthen horizontal joint expansion of industrial scale, carry out vertical restructuring, extend and improve the upstream and downstream industrial chain, increase independent innovation, support backbone enterprises to establish research and development centers, take market demand as the guide, and improve independent development capacity and core competitiveness through the combination of production, research and application.
